The media, both broadcast and print, are beginning their predictable efforts to influence, even determine, who runs for president in 2016 -- and who is elected.

It has been clear for some time that the media will do all possible to help Hillary Clinton secure the Democrats' nomination for president in 2016. The CBS "60 Minutes" powder puff interview of President Obama and Ms. Clinton, an interview that was only a promotion of the two in reality, was proof enough of their intentions. They don't even need Dan Rather anymore.

Now, the absolutely ridiculous focus on Senator Marco Rubio's drinking water during his rebuttal to Obama's speech (can't believe this but it's all around!!!) indicates they will do whatever necessary to destroy Rubio. And, they will! Even Van Jones, former Obama aide, has stated publicly that "Rubio is dangerous for Democrats." The media ignored the fact that Rubio's 10-minute rebuttal had more substance that the president's hour-plus campaign speech. NO, this is not unfair. It had little to do with the state of the union!! It had nothing to do with the "critical national condition."

It will be interesting to see who the media promote as a Republican candidate. It will surely be someone with less chance to win than Rubio.

What honest person can ignore the influence of the media in getting Sen. John McCain nominated only to help destroy him when he was. Of course, McCain didn't really need any help....he was very adept at destroying himself. Anyway, he was the darling of the media so long as he played the role of "Republican maverick,"  but when he claimed to actually be one of those media-undesirables, he was panned.

Whilst this can be disputed only by those who don't observe the media and by those who are delusional, it does not absolve Republicans of their ineptitude in countering the far left Progressives who now control government and determine the future of America....a "transformed America." It's a tough battle, but the radical Progressives now in control must be countered more effectively. Or, America as we have known and loved her is lost. Could be already. Media are trying.

Every day I look for signs of our times -- America's national condition is critical. Yesterday, February 12, 2013, was a significant day. Indicators of decline ranged from the top of government to the low of societal human behavior. Do I like to note this, to write about it? No, but it's time to speak out and hopefully elicit some recognition in others who may, collectively, be able to reverse the significant decline in our great nation. At the same time, I've come to realize that more people than I've been willing to admit may want what is no doubt a decline in our culture. Some will ridicule this and some won't care. Here are my assessments of yesterday's indicators of devolution of society.

  1. Top of the list is President Obama's “State of The Union” speech that wasn't – had almost nothing to do with the state of the nation. It was simply another campaign speech, which all of his addresses are, irrespective of the title or the intended purpose or the expectations of many of us. He said nothing about our critical issues, those that are destroying traditional America and creating a society that will lower the standard of living for our progeny. He showed no interest in, or knowledge of, our structural economic problems and the unlikelihood that the economy can expand to provide jobs and incomes for taxes to fund his expensive programs. There is much more, but I will save it for a complete and real “State of the Union” piece. He said nothing about the near 50% who pay no taxes, many of whom overload the so-called safety net receiving benefits for no good reason -- having babies, e.g.
  1. The “state of the union” was more a theatrical event than an important national event to inform Americans of the reality of our national condition. Too many, perhaps most, of those in attendance behaved more like rock star worshipers than mature participants in government – protectors of America. Too many participants, even the Vice President, reacted sophomorish and worse jumping up like a jack-in-the-box at almost any statement by the President. The behavior of those in the receiving line as the president entered was worse than immature. Participants behaved as groupies, celebrity worshipers -- a charade. I saw NO STATESMANLIKE BEHAVIOR. None, even from the Chief Justice.
Then came Senator Marco Rubio's rebuttal, a very difficult job at best. Once again, as with
Governor Jindal's rebuttal a year ago, the set-up was not the best. In spite of that, Rubio
did a credible job, even very good in that his rebuttal was far more substantive and
definitive than the president's proclamations. But, Rubio had the audacity to get “dry-
mouth” and reached out of the plane of the camera for a BOTTLE OF WATER. WHAT
expected, all day today the media has been obsessed with Rubio's “water problem.” At
least one major newspaper headlined “RUBIO'S DRINKING PROBLEM.” How scurrilous!!!
Overall, what should have been an informative state event with statesman participating was anything but that.

Oh, and while this has nothing to do with the "state of the union"(that wasn't), there was yet another event that shows the shocking behavior of a segment of the population that will support, protect and defend a miscreant like Chris Dorner, a murderer, demonstrating on his behalf and even establishing FB pages to "lobby" for him. That may be trumped by the LAPD capitulating to his claims of racism and mistreatment in being fired and "re-opening" his trial. Some say it was a ploy....I say it is a sign of the times. He's a killer and that trumps all other traits and behavior...or should.

WOW, the media are still covering Rubio's reach for a water bottle. NBC and MSNBC are having a field day as I write this. Even a left-winger like Kirsten Powers is panning the media's actions. She calls them "juvenile" and less mature than 13-year olds. Holy smoke! Some media are questioning whether Rubio's drinking water was "a career ender." And, some assert that claims of media's bias in favor of Obama is "fantasy" and more. How delusional can they be?

Those of you who continue to claim there is no bias in the media, you must realize that you're foregoing claim to any credibility by keeping your heads in the sand....or worse.

Quite a frustrating two days for those who look for truth and substance in politics and in our society.

Daily I receive much information including many links similar to the one above. Most I ignore. Some are inaccurate and some are meaningless in the larger sense of our national condition -- now  critical. But, some are meaningful and reflect truth about the declining national condition that many people disregard. At times, I think most do.

As I try to write a larger treatise, even a book, about the national condition and what has happened to our America in my lifetime, I look for any defining information irrespective of its form.

The link above is simple in form but quite profound in its meaning -- to a thinking person.
First, to those who remain delusional about the media being fair and unbiased, it will show how wrong that opinion is and what information they get out. However, it's unlikely any opinions will change. Nearly all participants in the survey in the link knew of the negatives about Gov. Palin, but none knew of negatives about Barack Obama. None.

Second, it shows the abject ignorance of a segment of the population, a segment that is larger than most will admit. It is enough to elect Barack Obama president and keep him in office. They give absolutely no thought to what it means for America, now or in the future. This has special meaning for me in that former Virginia Governor, Doug Wilder, for whom I once had much respect, wrote a lengthy op-ed for the Richmond Times Dispatch asserting how "discerning" voters were to elect Obama president. Of course, I rebutted it.

Third, it takes little imagination to realize that this segment of the population plays a major part in electing the president. Perhaps they can be said to actually be electing the president since their numbers are greater than most want to believe. They vote reflexively and have no concern for what is happening to America. Only one young woman seemed willing to rethink her opinions.

For those who stubbornly refuse to believe the importance of this simple video, thinking people must know that this segment of the population is deciding what the future of America will be. It's late in the game of transformation of America, maybe too late. Traditional America probably is no more, as I wrote earlier.

I, for one, will not give up. Not yet.

Doesn't look like any skeet range or shooting position that I've been on. I also haven't seen many smoke plumes coming from a 12 gauge in sunlight, and never one 90 degrees to the muzzle. This thing may have been photo shopped.
If Obama is shooting skeet, the clay would be many feet up in the air. As Obama stands, he'd shoot the trap house or the guy launching the clay (although that is often done remotely today). Comments are welcome and sought. Thanks.

This from a friend who knows how it should be:

Pure hokum. I've only done it a few times as a young whipper-snapper, and I think I got 'em all. I qualified
expert in the service. Had a keen eye as a young boy because my dad hunted squirrel and gator as a boy
and had the nerve to buy me a bb gun with which I terrorized the neighborhood.
The position is wrong. I recall these are clay targets weren't they....cannot shoot back. I recall a forward
lean with the shotgun seldom level to the target (never)…depends upon the trajectory (always upward unless he's shooting the clay as it hits the ground....not acceptable!!!
That gun smoke is weird. I think you, Dr. Mann, are right on target.
